Quiet voices can be eloquent advocates.

quiet voices can be eloquent and effective

The loudest person doesn’t always have the biggest voice

Rebecca is quiet, calm, and determined. She speaks about sobering things. This 2014 TEDMED talk rocked me. And divided me.

Rebecca is a deeply impressive and warm human who follows a brilliant path: talk about other people, not about yourself. She also has done so many interesting things that are well worth reading about here on her Wikipedia page. She was also cited in 2012 by PBS as one of the most influential women in America.

Working with her was a privilege. Listening to the stories she told divided me into two Peters. While I was Peter the Speaker Coach who was helping prepare her for the big stage and the red dot, I was also Peter the human audience listening to what she was saying for the first time.

I have worked with thousands of people over the last 30 years and this was one of the times when I felt the division between being both speaker coach and audience the most.
