How To Avoid Being Filtered Out: The Workbook:

This is a practical, easy-to-use workbook designed to be written in - for use by young graduates, those trying to get promoted and build their careers and senior executives wanting to change company, get promoted or join the Board.

The top 45 interview questions are listed, with guidance from the author (an accomplished storytelling and speaker coach who has coached thousands of people around the world) about what each question REALLY means and what they are REALLY asking you. It is a book designed to become your career companion - that you can write in, work with and from, update and use for the rest of your career.

"I have reviewed books for national newspapers that are six times as long as this and have less than a tenth of the content. Peter know what he wants to say, he says it clearly and then he moves on to the next point. At every stage of this book, you are learning something new, and learning it well. If you stay as focused as the book is, you'll go far". Mark Mason.

What You Do Is Who You Are: How To Create Your Business Culture

This Ben Horowitz book is remarkable. Nothing trite or copy and paste here. No theoretical nonsense. Real and useable experiences of real people portrayed vividly and with relevant lessons for every CEO, CFO or COO. Essential reading for leaders in business, politics and communications. All my C suite clients get this book from me as a gift - it’s that good.

I have coached founders from two Andreessen Horowitz a16z portfolio companies, who have also been personally coached 1-2-1 by Ben. They are impressive people in their own right and they all rate his brain and his human-ness.

Find Your Why

These are such fundamental books by Simon Sinek that every leader at every level should own them and read and reread them. They are essential reading for leaders.

Start With Why

Why is the most important question. Why is your sat-nav. Successful CEO's understand this and apply this to the way they approach each day.

The Eloquent Woman's Guide To Moderating Panels

Denise Graveline’s book is great for novices and professionals who want a refresher. She had a massive career in journalism, the US government and industry before she became a speaker coach and a fellow TEDMED Speaker Coach. She introduced me to TEDMED so we had a long history.

She won Washington PR Woman of the Year, coached over 100 TEDMED speakers, prepared speakers to address the U.S. Congress and had testified there herself.

She served as Deputy Associate Administrator of Communications, Education and Public Affairs at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and on the White House Council on Women during President Bill Clinton's administration. She knew her stuff.

Why We Get The Wrong Politicians

This book is about how we get the wrong political cultures, which lead to us having an unrepresentative, often unprepared and frequently unhappy bunch of politicians who end up passing bad laws causing personal disasters on small or catastrophic scales to people who then flood their constituency surgeries in crisis.

(Recommended not just because I'm featured in it!)

Neewer Camera Photo Video Lighting Kit

This was the first Neewer product I bought. It comes in a decent quality bag, is silly easy to set up and provides a great light. I’ve only used the white light so far. Maybe if I used the filters people would think I had had a facelift....? Hmmm....

Neewer Video Greenscreen

Neewer understated quality again. The Muslin is great. It comes folded and needs to be hung for a few hours to get the creases out. Soft and durable - I’ll use this forever. Get the size you need - this is wide enough for vox pop Zoom scenarios and photo sessions but there are wider. Remember to match sizes with the stand.

Neewer Background Stand Support Kit

I have coached virtually for years but this year decided to stop revealing my bookshelf to all my clients. I like Neewer kit and this works predictably, understatedly well. It’s light but strong with a decent carry bag. Just what you need. There are wider ones - it depends on the space you have. Remember to match sizes with the green screen you buy.

RALENO LED Video Lighting Kits

I have a wide range of studio lights and I rate these lights enormously and use them almost daily. They work with mains but also have a battery and last for 2 hours or so. The light strength is adjustable and there are other clever things they do I haven't worked out yet. The stands are robust and easy to adjust. If I had my time again - I would have bought these first.
