The Best Public Speaking Coach in London? (Obviously)

I would say that wouldn’t I? Anyway, back to talking about YOU!

Do you get nervous at the thought of speaking in public? Do your palms get sweaty, and your heart race? Do you hastily check for the nearest exit and think of excuses to run away? You’re not alone. Public speaking can be daunting for many people. Actually, that’s rubbish. It’s daunting for most people. However, with the help of a public speaking coach in the best City in the World, London, you can overcome your fears and become a confident and effective speaker.

What is public speaking coaching?

Public speaking coaching is a service that helps individuals improve their communication skills and become more effective presenters. A public speaking coach works with clients to help them overcome stage fright, build confidence, and develop their speaking skills.

Is a Speaker Coach a new thing?

Funny that you should ask that. Coaches are supposed to be used but never seen. Their work should be heard, but they should never be seen. That’s the whole point of having a speaker coach – the speaker coach’s client,  the speaker, should be seen and be heard, and their eloquence should appear to be effortless.

Few want “manufactured magic”. It’s good to have a coach who helps you tell your story and who does not become the story.

Have you seen The King’s Speech? The King had a speaker coach. That’s exactly what I do for business leaders and politicians. In the film,  the King had a stutter and my clients don’t. But this clip reminds many of my clients of working with me. It’s robust, up close and personal. And very effective. I help people find and use their voice.

Why is a public speaking coach in London important?

London is a global city with a thriving business and political scene. Being able to communicate effectively is essential for success in these environments. A public speaking coach in London can help you hone your presentation skills, stand out in a competitive job market, and achieve your professional goals.

But what happens if you don’t live in London? Let’s face it – most of the world doesn’t. Well, first of all, my commiserations. But… joking aside, the great thing for you is that wherever you are in the world, London is in a fantastic and super-convenient timezone, namely Greenwich Mean Time (Greenwich is a part of London), which enables me to work with speakers around the world on the same day.

My longest speaker coaching day was working with speakers in San Francisco and Sydney on the same day. A standard day could have me working with speakers in Europe, Asia and the USA all on the same day… because I have this great location here in London.

Finding the best public speaking coach in London

When selecting a public speaking coach or a speaker coach, always be mindful and try to properly (vs the shininess of their website) consider the following factors:

Experience and credentials of a Speaker Coach
Look for a Speaker Coach with experience and credentials in working with real people and real brands. Companies you actually know, like, trust or have heard of. If they trust the coach, you probably can too. I have worked with 16 PLCs around the world, over 175 politicians (don’t hold that against me, please), over 300 speakers on the TEDMED stage and thousands of speakers around the world.

Speaker Coaching style
Different speaker coaches have different styles. Find a speaker coach whose style resonates with you and makes you feel comfortable. It’s why I always suggest booking a very brief 1:1 with me first, so we can get to know each other first. (To save you time, my style is informal, irreverent and blunt. If you want corporate, fawning and polite, best ask Google for someone else.)

Availability and location of your Speaker Coach
Consider a Speaker Coach’s availability and location. You want someone who is accessible and easy to work with. I find the best coaching is often hybrid. A mix of virtual, over Zoom alongside face to face. 1-2-1  work, then homework, then 1-2-1. I am also happy to work weekends – if you are a good person doing things for a good reason or super important and your schedule sucks. Or you’re VERY rich.

Testimonials from past clients
Read testimonials and reviews from past clients to get a sense of a speaker coach’s effectiveness and success rate. You can find hundreds of testimonials from my clients here.

“Thank you so much for your coaching/feedback. I am now 41 and I wish I’d had someone like you give me just 10% of that advice while I was “growing up” as a scientist.”
