An HR Director once told me that in their industry roughly 120 people apply for any given job and a maximum of 20% of applicants (on a good day) get an interview. These numbers vary from industry to industry and from graduate level to C suite, but the ratios tell a common and stark story. As you move up the corporate pyramid, the number of competitors decreases but the calibre and experience of the competitors increases. Whatever level you are at in the pyramid - the competition is tough. I help my clients prepare for their worst case opponent - the nightmare competitor. You have to get through every hoop, make every interview count.
