Is authenticity a fad?

If I had a shop that sold authenticity, there’d be so many non-authentic people queuing up to buy boxes of it. But no, authenticity is real. It always has been real. But now it’s a thing because it’s called authenticity. I mean, who the hell made up the word authenticity? Being real and talking from your heart, it’s the same as when people use that awful word, passionate. When they say, “I’m passionate about something,” you know they’re bloody not. They should speak in such a way that the audience says, “Oh, he’s passionate about that.” It’s not a claim. It’s a commentator’s word, not a protagonist’s word.
