This weekend on Any Questions a young lady asked a question. After the panel had responded, Jonathan Dimbleby asked the lady if she had anything to add. She made two concise points then said “That’s all I have to say.” Jonathan Dimbleby rewarded her by saying that she had been “pungently eloquent”. The effectiveness of a message is measured by how accurately the broadcast message is received – not by clubbing the audience with endless words, repetition and volume. Craft it well, deliver it, then shut up.
